COLONY SQUARE

After the purchase of Colony Square in Midtown Atlanta in 2015, the Toro leadership team led redevelopment efforts to reimagine the iconic mixed-use destination into “Midtown’s Living Room,” a gathering place for artful encounters, vibrant entertainment and retail, culinary delights, modern work environments and most of all, a place to soak up Midtown’s vibe. The massive redevelopment project involves flipping Colony Square’s insular design inside out and prioritizing the addition of greenspaces, creating a highly animated, urban destination that engages with the street level. The combination of their unique talent as both a fiduciary and community-focused developer led to the successful repositioning of this iconic mixed-use office asset as a living room for Midtown Atlanta; far outperforming expectations for the local community and for their investors.

"In the post GFC period, Lionstone searched the country for firms that could successfully create the alchemy that is true, valuable mixed-use (re) development. Teams who can really, truly do this are hard to find. When we came upon Mark Toro and his team in Atlanta, it immediately became apparent that they were the right choice to lead the redevelopment of Colony Square. The combination of their unique talent as both a fiduciary and community-focused developer led to the successful repositioning of this iconic mixed-use office asset as a living room for Midtown Atlanta; far outperforming expectations for the local community and for their investors."

“What Mark and his team accomplished at Colony Square is simply extraordinary. They transformed a tired, urban office complex into one of Atlanta’s most desirable addresses, earning top of market rents for both office and retail, while managing a multi-year heavy demolition and construction site and a raging global pandemic.”
